Floral Top

| Top: Francesca’s | Jeans: Nordstrom | Earrings: BaubleBar | Shoes: Steve Madden |

Is it just me, or do y’all just get giddy about summer?! About a month ago I went into Francesca’s and I was smiling ear to ear rummaging through the racks filled with flowy dresses, bright colors, and florals.

This top was the first piece in my hand and I the second I tried it on I fell in love! It is so comfortable and is perfect for summer. I paired it with these amazing grey jeans and my favorite Steve Madden wedges. If you do not have these wedges, you NEED them! I have them in all three colors!

I hope everyone is having a fabulous start to their week! I am going to try and enjoy this beautiful weather we have in Houston today!

Happy Thursday friends! How many of y’all have grabbed the Unicorn Frappacinno at Starbucks?! I got one this morning and it tastes exactly like a unicorn! Haha! It was pink and sparkly and delicious! Y’all know I love my pink!

One thing that gives me all the pink and fuzzies is a girl who reaches for the stars and dreams big! Haley from Sassafras Boutique does just that! After college she went after her dream and began her own boutique!  If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I love their Texas T-Shirts! They are so soft and comfy, and of course show my Texas pride!

I got this adorable key hole top that is just perfect with white jeans for summer! I am loving this fresh, light blue color right now. I asked Haley if we could share a little love to my wonderful readers, so we have a discount code for this weekend only! Use code CASUALBLONDE to get 20% off your purchase until Sunday, April 23!

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

Be Your Beautiful Self

A few months ago, I went through a life changing heartbreak. I lost the man who was my best friend. The man who I thought I would go adventures, watch Netflix, marry, have children and grandchildren with. What I thought my entire life would be…gone. My world turned upside down, and I wasn’t 100 percent sure how I was going to come out it.

One thought I had several times and constantly asked God was, “Why does this suck so bad?” Why does heartbreak have to hurt so much? Why does losing one person feel like you’re entire world is empty? Like your choking and grasping for air? Why, Why, WHY?!

The cold, hard truth is that you have lost a piece of your heart, they have wedged their way into your soul and become a part of you. Losing them now means you’ve lost a part of yourself.

It’s okay to feel this way. It’s okay to let the hurt in and sit for a while. To me, it meant my relationship with this man was real. But I wasn’t going to wallow in it. I didn’t let the pain have the vacancy in my heart. I got up, and started to find me again. I started to spend more time with girlfriends, going to the gym, and a lot more time in my Bible with God.

Throughout all this, I learned a valuable lesson: do not lose yourself in a relationship. Through the three years of our relationship, I became my ex’s partner. I formed into what I thought he needed me to be. I gave up things that I loved, put things that were important to me on the back burner, so that I could do more things to make him happy. This isn’t a bad thing to do in moderation. Every relationship needs compromise. But I could never be a wife to him, because I had lost myself in my journey to make him happy. I lost the things that made me who I am and the things that brought me joy. Now, I’m on my path to find them again.

My advice to anyone going through any kind of heartbreak, whether thats a breakup, or the loss of a friend or job, is to never compromise the things that make you, you. Don’t be afraid to grow as a person, in fear that they won’t grow with you. Most of all, do not be afraid to walk away when someone is not helping or supportive in your journey. As much as I adored and loved my ex, and even though we had the most beautiful relationship, we just didn’t help the other grow. We held each other back.

So get out there! Go find what puts that pep in your step and makes your heart happy! Surround yourself with people who support you in your journey and are a shoulder to lean on. Most importantly, be your beautiful self!

Happy Thursday friends! If you’ve been reading my blog for any amount of time, you probably know I have two Mini Australian Shepherds, Sadie and Scarlett. I got Sadie while I was single and  living on my own, so for a while it was just me and her. Even when Chris and I started dating, I lived in my own apartment for 2 years, and it was just Sadie and me. My job allows for employees to bring their dogs to work, so she even comes to work with me! You could say we are basically attached at the hip!

Today is a special day because it is Sadie’s birthday! She turns 3 years old! After getting Scarlett for Christmas, I know Sadie has been a little out of sorts. She definitely got jealous when we brought Scarlett home, but she’s such a good girl and is so sweet with her sister! I really can’t say enough good things about Sadie. She is the best dog I could ever ask for. For her special day we will be having lots of treats, snuggles, and probably go for a run this afternoon (Sadie LOVES to go on my runs with me!)

I loved collaborating with these ladies to make this photoshoot happen! Kelsey and Lauren have worked together on several shoots, so they worked so well together. I am so grateful they both put so much time into this shoot for me, because it really was so special! Amber did a fabulous job on the calligraphy sign! I will definitely be using her work in the future.

I hope everyone has a fabulous Friday Eve! Happy Birthday Sadie!

Happy Monday! Sorry for being so M.I.A. on social media this weekend. I had a few personal things going on, so sometimes it’s good to unplug for a few days. Now I’m refreshed and recharged and ready for the week!

Valentine’s Day is tomorrow, which means TODAY is the official “Galentine’s Day”! I mean…according to Leslie Knoppe right?! 😉 Even though I have a boyfriend, I always love to celebrate the day of love with my gal pals. A Galentine’s Brunch is always a good idea! A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of going to brunch with some of the sweetest Houston bloggers. We went to Ouises’s Table (pronounced wee-zee’s) and had the best time. The drinks, food, and service were absolutely perfect. Plus, they have the BEST shrimp and grits! So if you’re looking for a cute place in Houston to have your next brunch, I would highly recommend Ouises’s Table!

I would also highly recommend you visit these beauties’ blogs! They are all fellow lifestyle and fashion bloggers from Houston. It’s always fun to meet and have some girl-time with ladies that you’ve followed on Instagram forever!

Well I hope everyone has a fabulous week and Valentine’s Day tomorrow!

Happy Friday! Do y’all have some fun plans for this weekend? We are doing a big cleaning out this weekend at our apartment. I’ll tell you, for whatever reason I can not seem to keep our apartment organized! Our old one bedroom was always clean and tidy, but now that we have a two bedroom, I feel like it’s always messy! How is it you have more room, but can’t stay organized?

Valentine’s Day is next Tuesday, which means a lot of you will be celebrating this weekend. If you and your partner are anything like Chris and I, you just use V-Day as a day to go to a nice restaurant for a quiet date. When I say we are creatures of habit, I mean it! Lol! For some, this may not be for everyone, so today I’m sharing 10 date ideas for you and your main squeeze!

  1. Eat in. Skip the restaurant and make a meal at home. You save money and have a fun activity with your dinner. Don’t like to cook? There are several deliver to your door meal prep kits like Blue Apron or Hello Fresh!
  2. Play Hooky. Take the day off work and just play hooky!
  3. Murder Mystery Dinner. Add some entertainment to your dinner and solve a mystery together and with other couples. They have a few of these in Houston and they look so fun! This is also a great idea for a double date.
  4. Relax. Go get a couples massage together. Sometimes I feel like guys get the short end of the stick with V-Day, so this is a way that both of you get something special!
  5. “Netflix and Chill”. No but seriously, order a pizza (they have heart shaped ones!) and spend a nice night snuggling and binge watching your favorite show! Valentine’s Day can be overwhelming sometimes, so if you and your man aren’t in for all the hype, just hang out!
  6. Staycation. Go on a mini vacation right in your home town!
  7. Breakfast For Dinner. Who doesn’t love breakfast for dinner?! Whether you go to IHOP or make a meal at home, shake up the typical V-Day dinner with some pancakes!
  8. Wine Tasting. Several wineries or wine bars offer wine tasting packages for you to try 4-6 different wines they offer. These are always fun, with your man or your girlfriends for a Galentine’s night! Pair with a cheese tray and you’re all set!
  9. Brewery Tour. Not into wine? Same concept goes for breweries and restaurants like World of Beer!
  10. Just Go To Dinner. There’s nothing wrong with going to your favorite restaurant for V-Day. You know you like the drinks, food, and service, and you always have a great time!

If you and your significant other are celebrating Valentine’s Day this weekend, I hope you have fun! Chris has Monday’s off, so we will be celebrating on Monday night!

Hope everyone has a fabulous Friday!

Gift Guide For Her

| 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 |

Next week is the big V-Day, and I’ll be the first to say I can be a huge procrastinator when it comes to gifts! I always think I have plenty of time, then before I know it it’s the day before the holiday and I left empty handed. this past Christmas, online shopping and Nordstrom were my best friends! I was able to stay on top of gifts and actually be ahead of the game. So today, I decided to round up a few gifts under $50 for y’all to make last minute gift giving easier!

I just purchased these Bauble Bar earrings for myself, I love them and they come in about 7 different colors! You can never go wrong with Kendra Scott, and the Elisa Pendant Necklace is a classic necklace that will be a staple in any girl’s wardrobe. You can’t beat these heart shaped sunnies for $12!

So whether you need to drop a hint for your guy or you need a little something for your best gal-pal, these make great, budget friendly options for all the loved ones in your life!

Happy Monday! How was everyone’s weekend? We had a fun weekend here in Houston. I honestly wasn’t that excited about the Super Bowl, since the Packers or Texans didn’t make it (yep…still salty), but we had a lot of fun watching it! Chris and I had a bet going about the outcome of the game. He bet on the Patriots and I bet on the Falcons. Let’s just say I got a little sassy at the beginning of the second half (I may have said “Do you want to just give me my money now?” 😂) and that ended up slapping me in the face real quick. Even though I lost the bet, we had a great time. I really hope the Super Bowl comes to Houston again soon. It was so fun and there were so many events going on in town!

Anyways, back to what’s really important….spring fashion! Who else is a little upset Phil saw his shadow?! I am! I’m just ready for some spring weather! I’ve been on the hunt for some pink dresses lately. My best friend is pregnant and is having a gender reveal party in March. At first, I was 100% sure that she was having a boy, now I’m starting to think maybe (hopefully) it’s a girl! When I saw this dress I thought how perfect for Valentine’s Day now, then to wear to the party in March!

Also can we talk about these earrings for a second?! I wear these all the time! I never thought to pair blue with pink, but once I saw these earrings and dress together I know it would be a new favorite combo! These earrings make a big statement, plus they’re versatile and the tassels can be taken off to wear just as a stud!

I hope everyone has a fabulous Monday! Have you picked out your Valentine’s (or Galentine’s!) Day outfit yet?!
